Habitat:
Cardinal tetras favor shaded areas with ample tree covering and slow-moving or standing clear waters
Range:
This species is found from the Orinoco River to the Rio Negro tributary of the Amazon River. Cardinal tetras can be found as far west as western Colombia.

The Cardinal tetras have vibrant red and blue coloration with a striking iridescent blue line laterally bisecting the fish's body.

Live in large schools, and it is not unusual to find them in groups numbering into the hundreds

Cardinal Tetras are omnivorous- in the wild they feed primarily on tiny invertebrates
Reproduction:
Spawning takes place in the evening, the female will lay up to 500 eggs.
