To All Friends of the Peoria Park District:

The Peoria Park District's mission focuses on supporting the health and wellness of those who live, work and play in our District. In the face of the coronavirus outbreak, the District continue to focus on this important work.

As such, in light of Governor Pritzker's recent order regarding school closures, effective Monday, March 16, 2020, the Peoria Park District has determined that it will close all public facilities through Monday, March 30, 2020, with the goal of reducing the spread of the coronavirus in our local community.

These closures will extend to all programs, activities, and rentals scheduled during this timeframe, including Proctor and Logan Recreation Centers' after school programming and all District Spring Break Camps. Please note that the District will honor its commitment to serve as public polling places for Tuesday's election.

Programs and events cancelled during this closure may be subject to rescheduling or refunds. Park District staff will be working to reach out to those affected in the coming days. They will also be available to answer phone calls and email inquiries regarding these changes.

During this time, the District's outdoor amenities will still be available for use though patrons are encouraged to consider social distancing and good hygiene while using our parks and trails.

Facility closures do NOT mean that the District won't be busy. The Peoria Park District's Facebook page will be activated as a daily resource for users who are looking for engaging activities to keep them busy during this phase of the virus containment. If you haven't "liked" the Peoria Park District Facebook page, please do so to ensure that you receive all District updates.

"While we are disappointed to have to close the doors of our indoor facilities temporarily, it is our hope that the early response to COVID-19 will help to limit its impact and allow us to get back to full program levels sooner. We stand committed to do whatever we can to support the health and wellness of our community and these short-term closures, along with some creative use of our social media platforms, will hopefully do just that," said Emily Cahill, the District's Executive Director.

Further, while it is the District's goal to limit facility and programming closures to the Governor's timeframe, District leadership recognizes that the timeline may have to extend depending on changes in the virus's reach in our community.
