SUMMARY:Day of the Cotton-top Tamarin
DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, August 15\, 2026\nTime: All Day\nLocation: Peoria Zoo – Tropics Building & Lodge\nIncluded with Zoo admission \nJoin us in celebrating Day of the Cotton-top Tamarin as we shine a spotlight on one of the world’s most endangered primates. \nNative to the tropical forests of Colombia\, cotton top tamarins are known for their striking white crests\, close family bonds\, and important role in their forest ecosystem. During your Zoo visit\, stop by the Tropics Building to see our cotton top tamarins and take some time to learn more about what makes this small primate so remarkable. \nCotton top tamarins face serious challenges in the wild\, including habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade. Day of the Cotton-top Tamarin is an opportunity to raise awareness about these threats and the conservation efforts helping protect the species and its habitat. \nWhile you’re here\, visit the Lodge for coloring and activity sheets available throughout the day to continue learning about cotton-top tamarins and their conservation. \nCelebrate with us by discovering more about this incredible species and how protecting wildlife and healthy forests can help ensure cotton-top tamarins have a future in the wild.
