Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day at Peoria Zoo and discover the incredible journeys birds make across the globe. Learn about the challenges migratory birds face, the importance of healthy habitats, and how conservation efforts help protect bird species worldwide.

Throughout the day, guests can learn about fascinating migratory birds such as the White Stork, Yellow-Breasted Bunting, and American Restart while visiting and discover how Peoria Zoo supports wildlife conservation both locally and globally. Visitors are encouraged to stop by featured bird habitats to connect with avian species and learn more about the role zoos play in protecting wildlife and ecosystems.
This special day includes:
– Educational activities in the Tropics Classroom focused on migratory birds and conservation
– Interactive opportunities to learn about bird migration and habitats
– Family-friendly crafts and photo opportunities
– Information about simple actions guests can take to support wildlife conservation
Guests can also make their way over the the Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum, where we are kicking off our Wild Encounters program for the season over on the PlayHouse porch. Zoo educators will join the PlayHouse team to share some more fun facts and hands-on activities all about songbirds.
